A skin lotion candle earns the nickname "2 in 1 candle" because it doubles as a body moisturizer. The melting pool of candle wax produces the lotion.

When you light the soy wax candle, it creates a melt pool that reaches a temperature of about 125 degrees, which is just the right temperature.

There is no burn. If done right, it just feels warm and lovely.

Don't use any old candle wax on your skin

Unlike regular candles, lotion candles contain skin safe ingredients and fragrances. A regular scented candle is not made with skin safe ingredients.

Avoid trying to use a regular candle as a moisturizer because the non-skin safe ingredients may do more harm than good. Absorbing those ingredients into your skin could cause a nasty rash and inflammation. Stay away from using any candle wax on the skin that contains paraffin wax.

Combining CBD, lotions and candles requires a good formulation to create both a nice scent and act as a body moisturizer.

The ingredients and the lotion candle recipe can vary from manufacturer, but most (including Naturally Mignon) use a soy wax base with a combination of other oils and butters.

We hand pour Naturally Mignon candles and use soy wax, shea butter, organic coconut oil, and CBD isolate.

The CBD provides some topical pain relief and acts a an anti-inflammatory. However, there are many skin candle manufacturers that don't add CBD. 

Soy wax is safe for the skin as long as the soy wax is pure and contains no contaminants. That being said, some people are allergic to soy or soy based products. It best to try on a small patch of skin to test any adverse reaction.

Yes. A good quality soy wax is the best when mixing lotions and candles. Soy wax is a type of wax that is full of vitamin E and antioxidant properties.

It is the wax of choice because it is natural, clean, safe and soft. Soy wax also has a low melting point temperature and burns long and slow.

It helps lock in moisture, and people often use it to address skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, cracked skin, cracked heels, and rough cuticles. It is soft, creamy, and effective in these applications.

But there are a few things to consider:

Additives

Some soy waxes used in candles or other products may contain additives or fragrances that are not suitable for direct skin contact. Poor quality soy wax can have contaminants. 

Temperature

Soy wax has a low melting point, making it relatively safe for skin contact compared to paraffin wax, which has a higher melting point. The melt pool of a soy candles is usually around a desirable 125 degrees.

However, even soy wax can become too hot when melted, so be cautious when using it in its liquid form to avoid burns.

Skin Sensitivity

Some people may have sensitive skin and could experience irritation or redness when using any type of wax on their skin.

It's advisable to conduct a patch test by applying a small amount of melted soy wax to a small area of the skin to check for any adverse reactions before using it more extensively.

Purity

Ensure that the soy wax you plan to use is pure and free from contaminants. Low-quality or impure soy wax may not be suitable for skin contact.

How to use a CBD lotion candle

When you are ready, light the soy body lotion candle and allow the wax to melt into a pool. Blow out the flame when you have melted the desired amount of oils

After that, dip your fingers in and gently rub the waxy oils on your skin for a wonderful moisturizing massage. You only need a small amount.

Simply light the lotion candle and wait for a pool of melted, buttery lotion to form. Blow out the flame and dip your fingers into the waxy, oily goodness.

You can use candle lotion anywhere on the body except the face. Many of my customers tell me they use it on the hands and have a lot of success treating severely dry skin and eczema patches.
